Experience the sights and sounds of America 100 years ago. Detroit Memories is an interactive CD-ROM that will give its audience a chance to explore daily life in urban America through the eyes of those who lived it. The viewer will be transported back to early twentieth-century America to discover what it was like to work in a factory, attend school and have fun with family and friends in the city. The creators have drawn on their experience as archivists and librarians to showcase diverse primary source material from area archives and to create a true multimedia experience. The audience will view photographs, film and animation as they listen to narration from "grandma" and "grandpa", often backed by Detroit music. Topics include: Ethnic and Diverse Culture, Women in the Workforce, Manufacturing, Theaters, Science and Technology, Automobiles, Immigration, Parks and Recreation and Education.
Detroit Memories is intended for adults and children interested in life in urban America from the turn of the century up to WWII. A teacher's edition is also available, which includes a study guide.
Minimum system requirements: IBM Pentium or compatible, 233 MHz processor, 32 MB RAM, Windows 95+, 2X CD-ROM drive, SVGA monitor (256 colors)
